Hey Cupcake!

Hey Cupcake!

A cupcake is just a muffin having a good day.

Are you having a good day? Is it a cupcake kind of day?
You have two choices: Have a muffin or have a cupcake.

You could also have the same outlook on life: Be a muffin or be a cupcake.

“There are only two ways to live life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is.” – Albert Einstein

Einstein wasn’t talking about cupcakes, but there is another saying out there that a cupcake is a muffin that believes in miracles. It’s up to you if you believe that cupcakes will fall from the sky, more likely that you’re going to have to get your own cupcake. Deep analogies there.

The first mention of a cupcake can be traced as far back as 1796, when a recipe notation of “a cake to be baked in small cups” was written in American Cookery by Amelia Simmons.

Life always comes back to numbers. Cupcakes were sometimes called “Number Cakes”. Bakers would painstakingly weigh out messy ingredients in the kitchen and bake and burn these larger cakes.  The cupcake was created for convenience; it saved a huge amount of time by streamlining the process and the smaller cakes cooked more evenly. It was a cake making revolution! American Ingenuity at its finest, Fast Food Cakes were born!

The real invention that came along with the Number Cakes was the measuring system that developed using cups, half cups, quarter cups, tablespoons and so forth. One cup of butter, two cups of sugar, three cups of flour, four eggs, one cup of milk and one spoonful of soda. Those poor sad muffin tins, called gem pans at the time, were used to create their much happier sibling.

From a health and nutritional standpoint, the line between muffins and cupcakes are sometimes blurred. A muffin is supposed to be a quick breakfast bite, maybe whole wheat or multi-grains, oatmeal raisin or other fruits. But lately the muffin folks are feeling more adventurous and adding all kinds of glazes and chocolate toppings in their “over-the-top brunch muffins”. That’s not breakfast, that’s desert, we know the difference right?

Calorie for calorie and mentally too, eating a cupcake is probably healthier for you. Here’s how it will play out, Pop a cupcake, super happy, and then you’ll regret it and go to the gym to burn it off, and then you’ll be happy again.

Being a cupcake is also healthier for you.

Being a cupcake is a lifestyle choice, and then you can have a cupcake as a reward for being a good human. Be a cupcake, but it’s your choice. If you still can’t decide, go to Kara’s Cupcakes and they’ll help.
